10th BE A ROLE MODEL / 39TH INOVA - Gradski Vrt Hall, Osijek
6th - 8th November 2014

GENContracept, test that determines whether there is an increased risk of blood clots, won the Gold Medal for innovativeness at the annual exhibition 10th BE A ROLE MODEL / 39th INOVA 2014, held in the Gradski Vrt Hall in Osijek from 6th to 8th November 2014.

What is INOVA?
Already a traditional exhibition, INOVA has been the initiator and symbol of innovativeness in the Republic of Croatia since 1971 and, thus being the third oldest exhibition of innovations in the world. The exhibition BE A ROLE MODEL became part of INOVA ten years ago, causing expansion of contents. INOVA has been gathering, encouraging and introducing to the audience thousands of Croatian and hundreds of foreign innovations and new products, with the accent on young people's innovations.


THE CHARTER OF THE REPUBLIC OF CROATIA

25th June 2014
On 25th June 2014, on the occasion of Statehood Day, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Ivo Josipović, conferred decorations on distinguished individuals, companies, and NGOs. The Charter of the Republic of Croatia was conferred on Genos Ltd. for outstanding contribution to economic development.

1st AWARD IN THE CATEGORY "CREATIVE AND INNOVATIVE PRODUCT PROGRAMME OR PRODUCT"

23rd May 2014
This year, the award ceremony of "Creativity and Innovation Day" was held in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb. Genos Ltd. won the first award in the category "Creative and innovative programme or product" with their "Genetic test for personalized approach to nutrition and exercise."

9th BE A ROLE MODEL / 38th INOVA 2013 - GENPerform won a number of awards for innovation
12th - 17th November 2013

Genos won a number of recognitions for their new set "DNA Test for Personalized Approach to Nutrition and Exercise" - GENPerform at the annual exhibition BE A ROLE MODEL / INOVA 2013, held at the Zagreb Fair. The innovative concept and creative packaging were the key combination to win the following recognitions: the Gold Medal BE A ROLE MODEL / INOVA 2013 for the above described innovation, special award INOVA - Award for the Best Innovation in Science, and Grand Prix of the exhibition BE A ROLE MODEL 2013 for the best commercialized innovation.


 

INNOVATION DAYS IN PARIS, 3RD AND 4TH EDITION: FINALISTS FOR THE AWARD "EUROPEAN UNIVERSAL BIOTECH INNOVATION PRIZE"
1st - 3rd October 2012 and 7th - 9th October 2013

Genos is one of the finalists for the award "European Universal Biotech Innovation Prize" which places this company among the leading innovative European companies. This recognition is even more significant if we consider the fact that Genos is the only company among the finalists, while all the rest are large and respectable public science and research institutions and universities from all around the Europe.

CROATIAN INNOVATION QUOTIENT AWARD
4th June 2013

The leading Croatian consulting company Sense Consulting, the Lider weekly magazine, and the VERN' University conducted the second study of investment in innovation among Croatian companies. The study was entitled "Croatian Innovation Quotient"and it was carried out on the sample of 300 large, medium, and small Croatian companies. Genos has been awarded as the most innovative company in Croatia in the category of small companies.


 

THE SCIENTISTS: THE BEST PLACE TO WORK 2013
1st June 2013

 The winner of this year's survey of "The Best Place to Work" series, conducted by the respectable journal The Scientist, is Genos. The survey highlights companies where researchers love to work and where they feel valued. Therefore, Genos is topping this year's list, ahead of globally known large companies like Genetech, Procter&Gamble, DuPonte, Monsanto, Wyatt, Promega, and others. Genos is also the only European company in this prestigious list. The Scientist based their list on a survey which included responses from 240 companies in life-science industry around the globe.

Gordan Lauc has been made an Honorary Professor in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.

JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY, MEMBER OF THE SOCIETY OF SCHOLARS
26th May 2011

In 2011, Prof. Gordan Lauc, PhD became member of the Society of Scholars of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA.

As to the importance of the honour, the following excerpt explains who can become a member of the Society: "The Committee of the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars, whose members are equally distributed among the academic divisions, elects a limited number of scholars from the candidates nominated by the academic divisions with postdoctoral programs. The scholars are invested at the time of Commencement or a similar occasion. At that time, they are presented with a certificate and a medallion on a black and gold ribbon to be worn with their academic robe. There are currently 611 members in the Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars."

Scientific Achievements


Six active FP7 projects - more than any other scientific institution in Croatia 

Participation in six large-scale FP7 research projects by the European Commission means that Genos is now part of a network that consists of approximately thirty scientific institutions in Europe and worldwide. Results of the projects are exceptional discoveries in science, published in leading scientific journals. Fifty papers have been published so far presenting these discoveries and furthermore, the research resulted in 4 patents.


 

April 2013
As part of a large international consortium, scientists from Genos have revealed a biomarker for one type of diabetes, called MODY, and the results of the research were published in "Diabetes," the official journal of the American Diabetes Association.

January 2011 - January 2016
Scientists from Genos have found that certain glycans can predict the speed at which colon cancer will progress, and this will enable more tailored therapy for individual patients (the discovery is part of GlycoBioM Project, financed by the European Union). The beginning of the project was 1st January 2011, and the duration of the project is 5 years.

31st January 2013
Scientists from Genos headed a large international consortium that made a significant discovery: they identified 16 genetic loci that regulate glycosylation of immunoglobulin. This opens new options in diagnosing autoimmune diseases and tumours, and can improve medicines for these medical problems. The results were published in one of the most respectable journals in the field of genetics, PloS Genetics.

7th July 2014
As part of a large international team, scientists from Genos have discovered that glycans are excellent biomarkers of biological and chronological ageing. For forensic scientists and doctors of medicine, this will facilitate diagnosing and preventing diseases because it will enable identification of biological age versus chronological age.
