Development of molecular diagnostics methods
The company Genos Ltd and Business Innovation Centre of Croatia BICRO Ltd, a government agency for implementation of the government’s technology development support programmes, signed a contract on the 28th of March 2011 for financial support of a project titled “Development of molecular diagnostics methods.” The contract was signed as part of the stimulation programme for research and development IRCRO which provides financial supports to small and middle sized enterprises who want to invest in research and development through business collaboration with scientific institutions. The purpose of this project is to increase the level of medical care in Croatia by means of contemporary molecular-diagnostic testing applications since the availability of relevant analytical services is currently very limited in Croatia. The contract was signed by the CEO of Genos Ltd Prof. Gordan Lauc and the General Manager of BICRO Mr Dalibor Marijanović.
For their research and development activities, the company Genos Ltd from Osijek has been granted financial support for the project worth 48% of the total costs of the project. In less than two years, Genos Ltd has succeeded in taking a significant market position in the segment of commercial and research oriented analysis of DNA in Croatia. The School of Medicine in Split will assist Genos Ltd in realization of the project. The aim of the project is to develop new molecular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the field of gynaecology and obstetrics that are important in medical care of the general population and that are high demand (for example, obtaining information related to prenatal diagnostics of Down syndrome in shortest possible time, or analysis of genetic links to coagulation disorders).
