Biografija
Prof. dr. sc. Gordan Lauc, utemeljitelj i predsjednik uprave tvrtke Genos d.o.o., jedan je od vodećih europskih znanstvenika u području glikobiologije. Zbog nedostatka adekvatnih analitičkih metoda, značajni dio rada Prof. dr. sc. Gordana Lauca usmjeren je na razvoj metoda za analizu glikana i njihove kasnije primjene u istraživanju ljudskih bolesti.
Najveća prekretnica u glikobiologiji dogodila se 2008. godine s razvojem prve kvantitativne visokoprotočne metode za analizu glikana. Upravo je Prof. dr. sc. Lauc bio prvi koji je shvatio kako bi ova metoda mogla omogućiti glikomici da se pridruži visokoprotočnoj genomici u cjelogenomskim asocijacijskim studijama. Kako je sudjelovao u razvoju te metode, njegov je laboratorij bio drugi u svijetu koji ju je i predstavio te prvi koji ju je primijenio na velikom broju ljudskih uzoraka u jednoj opsežnoj studiji o varijabilnosti u glikomu ljudske plazme. On je isto tako inicirao suradnju između grupa koje se bave visokoprotočnom genetikom i glikomikom što je omogućilo prve uvide u složenu genetiku glikolizacije proteina kod čovjeka. Objavio je preko 70 znanstvenih radova u stranim stručnim časopisima i dobitnik je brojnih domaćih i međunarodnih (FP6, FP7, NIH) financijskih potpora za istraživanje.
